Aadhaar - How to Apply, Where to Store & How to Reissue?
Q: What is an Aadhaar?
Aadhaar is a unique identity issued to an Indian citizen by UIDAI in form of an Aadhaar Number printed on an Aadhaar Card. It is a 12-digit unique number which Indian citizens can opt for if they want. It is issued after biometric and biographic profiling of an individual.
Q: How to store & access Aadhaar?
Aadhaar can be stored and accessed in the following ways –
1. Offline – Maintain a copy of Aadhaar handy(wallet or laptop bag). But with this approach it may get difficult to refer and share at time of your need.
2. Digilocker App – After you get your Aadhaar on Digilocker App, it is equivalent to the offline copy and has to be accepted by all the government officials. The only issue with Digilocker App is that you need to go through a lot of steps to get your Aadhaar on the app and everything else is manual like accessing it, sharing it etc.
3. Sorted App – With Aadhaar in your Sorted App you do not need to worry about organizing it because you can find it in one click with Sorted Search. You can share it via Gmail & Whatsapp in one click. The only disadvantage with this Smart Document Storage is that it is not accepted by government officials unless you take a print out and self-attest it, which is similar to an offline Aadhaar.
